The Project aims to merge Armenia’s top academic institutions with leading global expertise, promoting interdisciplinary learning and technological innovation. Master Plan

The Masterplan for Academic City Armenia outlines a visionary framework for establishing a sustainable, world-class educational hub. It encompasses six key academic clusters, each designed to foster specialized education and research, while also integrating with scientific research organizations.

The infrastructures and facilities within the Academic City will include but not limit the following:

  • state-of-the-art laboratories for cutting-edge scientific research
  • prototyping and testing facilities
  • sports and recreational amenities, national stadium
  • cultural centers and a concert hall
  • libraries
  • scientific and innovation startup incubators
  • collaboration spaces
  • student dormitories
  • residential areas
  • green spaces
  • other key facilities fostering competitive research & a high-quality education system

Technological Cluster: Focused on applied sciences, this cluster will host 14,500 students, supported by 3,000 academic staff. Key facilities include centers for materials science, physical research, advanced prototyping, computing technologies, and a startup incubator. The cluster aims to drive innovation and technological development across various sectors.

Arts Cluster: With 2,000 students and 900 academic staff, this cluster will focus on arts, culture, and heritage. It will include a High School of Arts, the Cinema City, a student theater, and the National Museum-Repository of Armenia. This cluster is designed to nurture Armenia’s creative industries and cultural studies.

Educational Cluster: Designed for 15,000 students and 1,400 academic staff, this cluster will promote educational research and teacher training. It includes a new Educational Research Center aimed at advancing the field of education through international collaborations.

Officer Cluster: Focused on internal and external security, this cluster will provide specialized education for military and security personnel. It will house an Officer University, High School, and College, all designed to meet the nation’s security needs through cutting-edge training and education.

Classical Cluster: The Classical Cluster will consolidate the traditional academic disciplines and foundational sciences, drawing on the strengths of existing universities in Armenia. The cluster will also house several Research Institutes focusing on fundamental and applied research in various academic disciplines.

Medical Cluster: The Medical Cluster is envisioned to cater to approximately 10,000 students and 800 academic staff engaged in educational and research activities. This cluster will be formed on the basis of existing medical universities and educational programs in Armenia, integrating cutting-edge research and modern, forward-looking educational curricula.

Facilities: The Masterplan envisions a community where students, academics, and professionals will work and live, with modern infrastructure supporting research, education, and daily life. Future clusters, such as the Classical and Medical clusters, will further enhance the city’s offerings, solidifying its role as a central hub for academic and professional excellence.
